Equivalent-looking materials can behave differently during machining, finishing and service. A complete RFQ identifies the standard, grade and any certificate or traceability expectation.

Finish compatibility

Consider surface treatment before features are finalized

Coating thickness, masking, passivation, cosmetic zones and contact surfaces can affect dimensions and inspection. Define them on the drawing instead of leaving them to a purchase-order note.

  • Finished versus pre-finish dimensions
  • Masked threads and electrical contacts
  • Cosmetic surface classification
  • Post-finish inspection requirements
